80% ? I Don't Think So !

80% of Americans sold on tax increases to avoid the budget crisis?  I don't think so Mr. Obama!

The following comments from President Obama are from his "meltdown" press conference at the end of compromise discussions with congressional leadership concerning the US debt ceiling.

"The American people are sold," Obama said. "The problem is members of Congress are dug in ideologically."

80% of Americans sold on tax increases?  What planet are you on?  Mr Obama, show a single poll, no matter how obscure, that shows 80% of Americans are sold on tax increases.  This is another example of more lies from you with nothing to back it up.  A Rasmussen Poll this week on July 14, 2011 shows only 34% of Americans support a tax hike as part of a debt deal.   In the same Rasmussen Poll, only 58% of DEMOCRATS support higher taxes. A July 10, 2011 Gallup Poll also  points the spotlight on Obama's obvious lie.  Obama's claim that "poll after poll" show Americans want higher taxes as part of a debt ceiling deal is simply delusional. That's becoming par for the course from this President.

"This is not an issue of salesmanship to the American people," Obama said.

This  is NOTHING BUT "salesmanship" for your constituants, but your current 34% and dropping approval score against a "generic" Republican indicates that ALL of us are not buying it!

"I hope [Republicans are] not just listening to lobbyists and special interests ... I hope they're listening to the American people as well,"

I agree, and that might be good advice for you to consider following also?

Obama said, citing "poll after poll" showing Republican voters, as well as Democrats, believe in taking "a balanced approach" - including both increased revenues and spending cuts in a plan to cut the deficit.

Nice try Mr. Obama - trying to substitute the words "revenues" and "a balanced approach" instead of using the actual words "TAX INCREASES"!  How are you going to try to spin your obvious "desperation" and "delusion"?  Possibly renaming it  to "Community Organizer Mojo"?

Obama repeated his warning that the country is "running out of time" to avert a financial "Armageddon.  We should not even be this close on a deadline," Obama said. "This is something we should have accomplished earlier."

Right Mr. Obama - I was also wondering why there has been no budget since FY-2009, even though the Democrats controlled both houses since 2006 and you have controlled the presidency since 2008.  Looks like your feeling of "running out of time" is because your Democrats and you have been running away from responsibility for quite some time?
To understand the tremendous significance of the Obama/Democrat's negligence last year (FY-2010),  you have to know that it was the FIRST TIME in the history of the US federal government, when the party in power failed to pass a federal budget!  And Democrats were in TOTAL control of all three branches of government at the time!
Also notice that as soon as the NEW Republican House landslide took the House back,  in November 2010, they immediately went to work on the budget for this year (FY-2011), that Democrats had refused to bother with last year, which were the most basic part of their duties.  The new republican House sent their budget to the Democrat-controlled Senate.  And Harry Reid sat on it and did NOTHING.
The Democrat controlled Senate as of today, July 16, 2011, STILL have no budget vote nor budget proposal whatsoever!

Obama said he is still pushing for a "big" deal to raise the debt ceiling by the Aug. 2 deadline despite the hardening of positions on Capitol Hill.   "I always have hope," Obama said. "Don't you remember my campaign?"

We have lost hope Mr. Obama, because your presidency has been SO different from your campaign.  Remember as a Senator you never voted for a budget and as the President you blame President Bush and Republicans for the neglect that is YOURS ALONE.

The president signaled he is opposed to the "Cut, Cap and Balance" proposal that House Republicans coalesced around Friday morning, and he challenged the GOP to "be ambitious" in proposing a package to cut the deficit.

Mr Obama, wou are an expert at TWISTING words!  Now you try to substitute "be ambitious" for "my way or the highway".  No one voted for a dictator in 2008.  You refuse "Cut" and you refuse "Cap", but you seem to be ok with "Balance" so long as you control the definition?

"If they show me a serious plan, I'm ready to move, even if it requires some tough sacrifices on my part," Obama said.

Republican Paul Ryan and the Republican controlled House have offered you two different budget plans.  Neither you (other than your unconstitutional attempt to raise the national debt ceiling by your executative orders only), nor any other Democrat, has proposed ANY budget.

"We asked the president to lead, we asked him to put forward a plan, not a speech - a real plan - and he hasn't. We will," Speaker John Boehner said (R-Ohio) before Obama's press conference.
The Republican plan would authorize a $2.4 trillion increase in the debt ceiling AFTER Congress passes a balanced-budget amendment.

The president admitted he had not studied the new Republican proposal, but said it "doesn't sound like a serious plan to me."

Mr Obama, if you haven't looked at it, how can you have ANY opinion of it?  Unless you are a subscriber to Senator Pelosi's bizarre approach of "We have to pass this bill to find out whats in it"?  According to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) the United States faces an unfunded liability of $200 TRILLION.  This is happening on your watch Mr Obama - leave Mr Bush OUT of it.

Obama also shot down GOP calls for a balanced-budget amendment to the Constitution, saying "we don't need a constitutional amendment to do our jobs."

I guess the GOP feels safer using a constitutional amendment to ENSURE that you follow your inaugural oath to "…preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States of America."?  This would help to guarantee you don't pervert the Constitution by trying to take on SOLE responsibility to raise the debt ceiling with ONLY your executative order, and NO INPUT from the legislative branch as required by the Constitution?  The GOP is ACTUALLY only calling for a BALANCED budget amendment, but requiring your adherence to the Constitution would be an additional PLUS?

As he has done since last week, the president challenged Republicans to pursue the biggest plan possible, seizing an "opportunity to stabilize American's finances" for the next 10, 15 or 20 years.

Implementing programs to raise the deficit by HUNDREDS of TRILLIONS of dollars over the next 20 years is not my idea of the correct usage of the word "stabilize"?  Right now we are trying to prevent you and the Democrats from bumping it up to a RECORD $14.3 TRILLION  (that's 14,300 BILLION dollars, or 14,300,000 MILLION dollars)!  And since the government PRODUCES ZERO cash, I assume that you assume, that taxpayers will have to cover your agenda for the expansion of your socialist plan?

Noting the acknowledgment by Republican leaders that the debt ceiling has to be raised, Obama said that they should not stop at the "routine" decision to increase the government's borrowing authority.

Mr Obama, I think you left out the critical word when you noted the acknowledgement by the Republican leaders that the debt ceiling has to be raised TEMPORARILY?  Was that omission accidental, or did you just hope no one would notice?

"I'm glad the congressional leaders want to raise the debt ceiling, but I think the American people expect more," Obama said.  The president has repeatedly called for negotiators to put politics aside even as the negotiations have increasingly been framed through the lens of the 2012 election.

Oops, left out that pesky word TEMPORARILY again didn't we?  Two "accidents" in a row?

Obama said he was hopeful that the leaders would step back from trying to please their base constituencies and move on the debt ceiling, reducing the deficit and other economic agenda items.

Hold on, wait a second!  Isn't that what patriotic, constitutional legislators are SUPPOSED to be doing - carrying out the will of their constituents?  The US House of Representatives was originally created for the SOLE purpose to guarantee that the will of the people would always be represented in our government.  That's why the House has 435 members and six non-voting delegates representing the people, and the US Senate has only 100 senators representing the government.  IT WAS INTENTIONALLY DESIGNED THAT WAY BY OUR FOUNDERS TO ENSURE THE PEOPLE WOULD ALWAYS HAVE A VOICE IN OUR GOVERNMENT!

"Whatever Sen. [Mitch] McConnell [R-Ky.] says about me on the floor of the Senate is not going to be an impediment to us getting a deal done," Obama said. "You know, the question is going to be whether at any given moment we're willing to set politics aside at least briefly in order to get something done.

Mr Obama, what have you been wasting your time over the last two years, and the Democratic control legislatures been wasting their time over the last four years, FOR?  Put the blame where it ACTUALLY belongs.  PS, wherever Mr McConnell came up with the harebrained scheme to allow you to circumvent your responsibility to follow the Constitution, I don't know?  But we the people offer you no such "get-out-of-jail-free pass"!

Obama continued: "Surely we can come up with a compromise to solve those problems. So there will be huge differences between now and November 2012 between the parties. And whoever the Republican nominee is, you know, we're going to have a big, serious debate about what we believe is the right way to guide America forward and to win the future. And I'm confident that I will win that debate."

I sincerely hope & pray that the rising American voter understanding of your hidden agenda,  will erode your confidence and your constituency enough to elect a new presdent to help us return America to the people, starting in November, 2012.

"And I think increasingly the American people are going to say to themselves, you know what? If a party or a politician is constantly taking the position 'my way or the highway,' constantly being locked into, you know, ideologically rigid positions, that you know, we're going to remember at the polls," Obama said.

Mr Obama, I agree with you on this one, 100%!

Obama didn't rule out the fall-back plan proposed by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) that would give the president the power to raise the debt ceiling to avoid a national default.

I know Mr McConnell is working to place the blame for this "budget crisis" where it truthfull belongs - in the hands of the President and the Democrats, but CIRCUMVENTING THE CONSTITUTION is not the way to do it!  No President is allowed to change the federal debt ceiling - only Congress has that Constitutional right.  Shame on you Mr McConnell!

"It is constructive to say that if Washington operates as usual and can't get anything done, let's at least avert Armageddon," he said. However, Obama said he wanted to address the deeper debt issues.

Armageddon is easily averted by PRIORITIZING the necessary $2.4 trillion in cuts, and then cutting them!

"I have not seen a credible plan ... that would allow you to get to $2.4 trillion [in savings] without really hurting ordinary folks," he said.

Mr Obama, how can you "see a credible plan" when you publically admit that you have not looked at the only two plans that have been offered?

The president said voters are paying attention to "who seems to be trying to get something done" in the high-stakes negotiations over raising the debt ceiling.

I hope & pray you are right about this one.

"It's going to be in the interests of everybody who wants to serve in this town to make sure they are on the right side of that impression," he said.

Truthfully said by the MASTER of false impressions!
